RMSM is in the process of developing a list of local counseling and housing resources for domestic violence victims and will make this list available to our local shelter and faith-based organizations.
RMSM is providing a recovery group for domestic violence victims in Dallas, Oregon, beginning in the Summer of 2017. RMSM plans to also begin a faith-based support group since our local shelter reports they regularly have women request faith-based resources.
RMSM plans to recruit local attorneys to provide volunteer legal assistance to domestic violence victims, since rarely do victims have the resources to retain counsel. This program will be called, “Stand by Me”, since having counsel stand with them in the courtroom reportedly significantly increases the chance of protective orders being approved.
Over the next 3-5 years, we plan to explore models for providing temporary housing for domestic violence victims and search for location(s) within Polk County, Oregon. The current need for housing is desperate.
This program is currently being developed. Stay tuned!
